Spain's Digital Nomad Visa: For Australian applicants

Eligibility considerations:

Australian professionals are eligible to apply for Spain's Digital Nomad Visa either as self-employed individuals or as employed individuals.
However, for employed Australians, their employer must agree to register and contribute to Social Security in Spain. This is due the fact that Australia does not currently have a suitable Social Security agreement in place with Spain.
This requirement frequently presents a hurdle, given that Australian companies rarely consent to it because of the significant expenses involved, with costs potentially amounting to 30%-40% of the employee's salary.

Provided they meet all other requirements, Australian business owners may qualify for application through the self-employed route (by contracting to their own business) or the employee route (if they register their business to pay social security in Spain).
